Bodmin March On at Bickland

Falmouth Town (1) 2 Bodmin Town (3) 5

Falmouth Town slipped to their biggest league defeat of the season against an in-form Bodmin Town.  The visitors showed why they are championship favourites with another five goal haul following their 5-3 victory at St Austell at the weekend.   Falmouth Town gave a good account of themselves though and with a little more luck the score could have been much closer.  As it was they once again found themselves reduced to ten men when Mark Holland was carried off after all the home side’s substitutes had been used.

Rob Wearne scored both Town’s goals, one in each half.  Both were good finishes following very good moves from the home side.  A disappointing final score but there were many positives for Andrew Westgarth’s young squad to take from the game.

Town Win at Stoke

Stoke Gabriel (0) 1 Falmouth Town  (0) 2

Falmouth Town got back to winning ways with a very good win at Stoke Gabriel.  The visitors had to come from a goal behind to maintain their unbeaten away record in the SWPL this season. Stoke had the better of a goalless first half, hitting the post and having several good efforts on goal, but were unable to beat Town keeper Ethan Fearn .  Fearn came into the team due to Ryan Barnes being suspended and he was finally beaten by The Railwaymen’s Ollie Aplin after 61 minutes.

The home side’s lead lasted only eight minutes though as top Glen Squires, back in action after an injury lay off,  headed home a  Rob Wearne cross for the equaliser.   A minute later Mike Vanes was brought down in the box and Rob Wearne scored from the spot and Town held out for the remaining twenty minutes to take all three points

Falmouth Town: Ethan Fearn, Chris Wormington, Harry Clarke, Tom Whipp, Joe Cooper, Ross Pope, Conner Rhodes, Mike Vanes, Rob Wearne, Andrew Westgarth, Luke Tripconey, Lewis Wilson, Glenn Squires, Aiden Killen, Sam Reed.

WCP Defeat for Town

Helston Athletic (1) 3 Falmouth Town (0) 1

Falmouth Town exited the W C Parson South West Peninsula League Cup at the second round stage with a prolifigate performance at Kellaway Park.  An even first half ended with the hosts leading 1-0 after a mix up at the back gifted the home side an opening goal.  The second half saw Town miss several good openings before Helston scored a second against the run of play, and although Town pulled one back from the spot through Rob Wearne, the hosts scored a late goal to secure a deserved win.
