Falmouth Town produced a much better performance against promotion chasing Parkway and with better finishing, particularly in the first-half, they might have taken something from the game.
The home side were right in the match up until a controversial 63rd minute incident that saw Tom Whipp injured in a heavy collision five metres outside the Parkway penalty box. The crowd appealed for a free-kick but referee Tim Burley saw nothing wrong in the challenge and surprisingly waved play on as Whipp lay prone on the turf. Parkway scored through Ryan Richards from the resultant breakaway, and what had been a close, entertaining game, was over as a contest.
Town were left to rue missing early chances when Parkway took the lead on the half-hour through Richards. Town equalised five minutes into the second-half when Rob Wearne finished with aplomb, chipping the ball over the advancing Ben Elphick. Parkway were back in the lead after 55 minutes when the ever dangerous Glyn Hobbs broke down the left, and although Jason Chapman saved his shot, the ball fell kindly for Chris Clarke to nod in from close range.
Town kept pushing but after the controversial third goal the Devon side were in the ascendancy and could have increased their lead on a couple of occasions. Overall a good effort from Town.
