Falmouth Town got back on track with what was , in the end, a comfortable win at bottom club Penzance. Town went ahead as early as the third minute through an own goal and increased the lead after twenty minutes when Karl Turner slotted the ball past the advancing keeper.
The Magpies then had their best spell and twice good work from keeper Jason Chapman stopped certain goals. Penzance also had an effort cleared off the line, which they claimed was hand ball but the referee waved away their appeals for a penalty. Town nearly took a three goal lead to the interval but Rob Wearne’s close range effort came off the underside of the bar and was cleared to safety.
Penzance pushed forward in the early part of the second half but the Falmouth defence looked more solid and chances were few and far between. The game was wrapped up with 22 minutes remaining when Glen Squires scored after being put through on home keeper Paul Williams; although the keeper got a hand to Falmouth Town’s leading scorers shot, he couldn’t prevent it going into the corner of the net. Good win for Town.
