Town’s recent poor run of results continued with a disappointing draw against Plymouth side Elburton Villa. Matt Drummond gave Falmouth the lead but Levi Landricombe equalised just before the break. Up to that point the visitors had looked there for the taking but they finished the match well worth the draw.
Buckland Athletic 4 Falmouth Town 3
Falmouth Town’s last hope of silverware came to an end at Kimberley Stadium as Buckland just shaded a thrilling Throgmorton Cup semi-final. The Devon side took an early lead and twice came close to going further ahead but Town bounced back on the half-hour to equalise through a Matt Drummond header and seven minutes later went ahead when Mark Vercesi converted a penalty.
At this stage Falmouth were looking the better side but failure to deal with dead ball situations cost them dearly and within three minutes of the re-start they found themselves 3-2 down. Vercesi equalised from the spot but Lynch scored after Falmouth’s defensive spurned several chances to clear after a corner.
Town thought they had drawn level again but Chris Menhenick had his 90th minute header chalked off.
Town took a tentative step towards the championship with this draw against close challengers St. Agnes. Burns put the visitors ahead after twenty minutes before a well work free kick just before half-time led to Nathan McIntosh smashing a fine equaliser.
Falmouth traveled to south Devon with a severely depleted squad and were well beaten by lowly Dartmouth. Promotion is now a pipe dream; even third place is beginning to look unlikely. Town’s goal was from an own goal.
