Falmouth  Town moved into the semi finals of the Throgmorton Cup  with victory over the Magpies.   It was all Town early on and they took the lead after eight minutes through an Ian Hodges header from a Dan Green corner.    It looked for a while as if Town would run up a cricket score but good goalkeeping and some profligate finishing meant it remained 1-0 at the break.

Penzance came back into the game and Falmouth were frustrated as they tried to wrap the game up.  Eventually the pressure told and Matt Drummond got the killer second goal on 72 mins when he headed in Matt Hollands’ cross.   Skipper Vercesi wrapped it up in the final minute with yet another header.

After the match the draw was made and Falmouth Town will face Buckland Athletic in the semi finals.  Date and venue to be announced.

A fantastic win for the Reserves over fellow championship rivals Illogan has propelled Paul Murray’s side into pole position in the Cornwall Combination.   Two goals from Mike Newbury and a third from Ben Ambrose clinched the vital three points.

It was back to league action with a bang following the week’s political shenanigans as Town produced yet another scoring jamboree.   Skipper Mark Vercesi completed a hat-trick of hat-tricks for the season;  Jamie Mudge got off the mark with a brace,  and Joe Lugg and  Matt Drummond completed the scoring.

Good news for Town fans this morning.  Alan Carey has had a change of heart and has decided to continue as Falmouth Town manager.

Press release.

Falmouth Town have been disqualified from The Cornwall Senior Cup for an irregularity.  Jamie Mudge was apparently ineligible when he came on for the last twenty minutes.  Despite Town being 3-0 up at the time, the C.C.F.A. have decided to reinstate Saltash United.

Manager Alan Carey has resigned over the issue.

Falmouth Town have signed Jamie Mudge from  Bideford.   The ex-Exeter City,  Dorchester Town and Tiverton Town striker made his debut at Kimberley Stadium today when he came off the bench for the last 20 minutes.     This looks an excellent acquisition for the club.

Another magnificent cup win at Kimberley Stadium saw Town move into the semi-finals of the Cornwall Senior Cup.    Ian Hodges,  who had missed the previous three meetings between the clubs this season,  scored the opener  and Saltash defender Clark deflected a Karl Turner free kick past his own keeper to give Town a well deserved 2-0 lead at the break.

Hodges made it 3-0 just after half-time with an excellent diving header from another Turner free kick.    The Ashes never gave up but there was no way past Jason Chapman as the Famouth defence and Town kept a clean sheet  for the third consecutive  match.

Alan Carey was able to put out his strongest team for some time and they proved to be more than a match for the Marines.  Karl Turner opened the scoring in the first minute and from there on in it was virtually one-way traffic.  Matt Drummond with a hat-trick;  a brace from Joe Lugg and a Jamie Devine strike completed the scoring.
